Getting Started

I thought we could create a place where we could discuss the project.

Several people thought it would be nice to create a blanket from the group. If we all create 1 square we will have a blanket made with love as a wonderful gift for the shower.

We thought shades of pink and white.
Sampler blanket.

Please let us know if you have comments or suggestions.

  1. Ok, I want to help.

I think we need to choose colors and set a time line. I'm happy to order the yarn, just have to know what we want and how much to get. I think two shades of light pink and one white with a dark pink border would be awesome. Unless there's another suggestion before then, I'll plan on getting the yarn Wednesday.

I should be able to get the yarn in and distribute it subtly on July 15. If you won't make that night let me know and we'll work something out.

If everybody can have a 12 inch square knitted, blocked, and with ends woven in by Aug. 12 (that gives you 4 weeks) I will subtly collect them and assemble the blanket.

    But for starters, who's in?

  6. I'd love to make a square, if someone will help me make sure that I get the gauge right, so the square will be the right size! I think this is a wonderful idea!

  7. Jes, One suggestion: After everyone has knit and sewn in the ends, we can all wash our squares ourselves. That way if there are any problems with the knitting it will 'come out in the wash', and we can fix it ourselves. Then, all you have to do, Jes, is put it all together. That's ENOUGH work for you to do! We really appreciate you volunteering to do the work that we dread doing.

  9. Count me in....I like the idea with the olors but would it be better with pink and off white? Instead bright white? Bright white always scares me cuz theygetdirtyfast and can never get them bright white again. I'm never that lucky with white lol.

  10. I'm in. Do we really need to have the same dye lot on the colors? I would think since the same colored square won't be up next to another one that different dye lots would work fine. That way if we wanted to go buy skeins on our own we could do it as long as we knew what kind of yarn to buy. Just trying to simplify things for you all that are working so hard on this!
