Happy President's Day

I finished my project for the Ravelinics.  I was a bit concerned that I would have time because I had a meeting last week.  I was able to spin all my singles last weekend and 3 ply the first half so I could knit during the week.  This weekend I plied the second half and finished the socks.  I was very please with how the one sock turned out, but a  little less so on the other.  It was spun a bit thick, probably sport weight, so it knit up faster as well.  It is very dense.

Greenwood Fiberworks bfl/silk (85/15) in the Sochi colorway.

Since I finished before the event was over, decided to cast on Bitterroot by Romi.  Handspun SCF in Polwarth Silk (65/35) in the Lizard colorway

Let the Games Begin

The Ravellenic Games have started.
I am spinning the Sochi colorway by Greenwood Fiberworks.  It is the BFL/Silk.  I divided it up by color repeat and will spin a 3 ply for sock.

The Plucky group is so awesome.  I posted an ISO and two people responded.  One was even willing to break into an unopened skein to send the yardage.  I took the other up on her offer.  She was making socks and had left overs.  I would feel so bad if the first person was so kind then ran out at the end of her project.  So, a little progress has been made on Color affection this week.  (about 4 rows)

Saw this on line this week and LOVED it.

The order from the SCF Fall collection arrived.  There are 6 ounces of each of the 3 colors.  Now, what to make......

Lucky enough to score at the Fat Squirrel Speaks update.  LOVE the fabric.

My wish came true this week.  A Wish Goddess.

DS and I went to dinner this week.  So pretty.

Almost only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades

It was sooooooo close. Needed just 2 more rows of the first color.  One right side and one wrong side row.  That is all.  Didn't quite make it.  I did post in ISO in the Plucky group.  There is an amazing person who is making socks and should have some to send.  So Color Affection is in time out for now.

Can't decide what edging to do on my pillbox hat.  I am loving the hat, just now quite sure how to finish it off.

Finished the bottom border for Forest Path Stole.  Using The Unique Sheep Eos in Mother of Pearl. At the KAL one of the girls mentioned a lace edge and she found the border on the Lilly of the Valley scarf would work perfect. Goes great with the pattern and no math.  Woohoo.

Dogyarns is hosting the 2014:  The Year of Lace Scarf KAL.  There is a new clue every month.

The January clue was feather and fan and the February clue was Medallions.
Using Numma Numma the Special in Organic Greens

Shuttles, Spindles & Skeins started carrying a new yarn by a local.  MJ Yarns in Fingering weight and it is 75% SW orriedale 25% Nylon.  I cast on a pair of socks and LOVE it so far.  It was pretty in the skein and pretty when caked up.  But WOW, LOVE it knit up.  It is SO  much prettier than in the skein.  It is super squishy.  It is knitting up a little larger than my typical sock. I normally do 64 sts on double zero and this was a bit wide.  Was thinking either Roman Rib or Hermione's Everyday Socks.

The Highlight of the week was the Longmont Yarn Shoppe.
The Malabrigo trunk show was there.  There are some GORGEOUS objects.  In all fairness, I know the items are put through a lot, but I was amazed at how much pilling there was on almost every item.  They were gorgeous.  LOVE the yarn, LOVE the colors, LOVE the patterns.

But wait, there is more at Longmont Yarn Shoppe...
I was so fortunate to be able to take a class from Galina Khmeleva who taught Orenburg Lace techniques.  It  was amazing.  After the class there was a Trunk Show "The Lace Knitters of Orenburg and Their Craft" and a little shopping.  It was a totally amazing day

Two skeins of Belisa Blend (65% Lambswool, 25% Possum, 10% Silk) in one in dark green and one in Black.  Two skeins of Jojoland Consonance in 50/50 Cashmere Silk.  One skein of Silk Yak (55/45).
